BUFFALO (UP TO 40″)
The African buffalo, also known as the Cape buffalo (Syncerus caffer), is a large and robust bovine species native to sub-Saharan Africa. Recognized for its formidable appearance, the African buffalo is characterized by its massive body, distinctive curved horns, and dark-colored coat. These herbivores inhabit a variety of habitats including savannas, grasslands, and forests, where they graze on grasses and browse on shrubs and herbs. African buffaloes are known for their social behavior, often forming large herds led by dominant bulls.
Despite their formidable size, they are surprisingly agile and can reach speeds of up to 56 kilometers per hour (35 miles per hour) when necessary. While they are known to be strong and resilient, African buffaloes face threats from habitat loss, hunting, and diseases such as bovine tuberculosis. They play a crucial role in maintaining the ecological balance of their habitats and are revered in many African cultures for their strength and significance.
SABLE (UP TO 42″)
The Sable Antelope (Hippotragus niger) is a striking antelope species native to southern and eastern Africa. Renowned for its majestic appearance, the sable antelope is characterized by its glossy black coat, long curved horns, and white facial markings. They inhabit wooded savannas and grasslands, where they graze on a variety of grasses and herbs. Sable antelopes are highly social animals, often forming herds led by dominant males.
These antelopes are known for their agility and impressive leaping ability, which they use for defense and to evade predators. While facing threats from habitat loss and hunting, conservation efforts aim to protect sable antelope populations and their unique habitats. They remain an iconic symbol of the African wilderness, admired for their beauty and resilience.
